What goes in an anxiety care package

Most people end up with three things: something tactile, something for the breath, and something that marks a change in the day.

Breath is a breathing necklace or a simple practice. It's the one that helps most in an acute moment, and the one people forget they own.

Building a kit for someone else

Buy for the person, not the condition. Someone who bites their nails wants something for their hands. Someone who lies awake wants something for the evening. Someone who dreads meetings wants something they can use without anyone noticing.

If you don't know, a fidget ring and a worry stone is the safest pair. Both are used in the moment, neither requires learning anything, and neither reads as a comment on how they're coping.

Building a kit for yourself

Start smaller than you think. Two things you'll actually use beat six that live in a drawer, and the honest truth is you won't know which ones work until you've tried them. Most of what's here is under $30 for exactly that reason.

Keep them where you'll reach for them. A worry stone in a coat pocket gets used. The same stone on a shelf does not.
