Solid gold, vermeil or gold dipped fidget rings
Solid gold means the ring is gold all the way through, in our case 9KT or 10KT. It will never wear off, never change colour, and holds real value. These run from about $499 to just over $1,000. This is the buy-it-once option.
Gold vermeil is a thick layer of real 14KT gold bonded to a sterling silver base. It's a regulated term with a legal minimum for gold thickness, which is what separates it from ordinary plating. Vermeil runs $139 to $439 and will hold its colour for years with reasonable care. This is the sweet spot for most people.
Gold dipped is a thin layer of 18K gold over stainless steel. It looks the same on day one and costs $24.99 to $44.99. The colour will eventually wear at the points that rub, and it isn't repairable. This is the option for trying a style, or for a ring you don't want to worry about.
All three spin identically. The price difference buys you longevity, not function.
Choosing a gold spinner ring
If you'll wear it every day for years and want it to look the same at the end, buy solid gold or vermeil. If you're not sure whether a spinner ring is for you yet, start dipped and upgrade later. Plenty of our customers do exactly that.
Yellow gold is warmer and reads more traditional. Rose gold is softer and tends to suit more skin tones. Both are available across all three tiers.

14K gold vermeil jewelry explained
The word vermeil gets used loosely, so here's the standard: the base must be sterling silver, the gold must be at least 10 karat, and the plating must be at least 2.5 microns thick. Anything that misses those isn't vermeil, it's plated. Ours meets the standard, which is why a vermeil ring costs three times a plated one and lasts many times longer.
Caring for gold jewelry
Solid gold needs almost nothing. Wear it, wash it, forget about it.
Vermeil and dipped finishes last longest when kept away from water, lotions, perfume and cleaning products. Put your ring on after you're dressed rather than before, and store it in the pouch it came in rather than loose in a drawer.
